Description: The isopachs are represented in two forms:Depth to the base of Cretaceous in Meso-Cenozoic basins (in km); and depth to basement in pre-Cretaceous basins (in km). The data for basins inside the continent or along the continental margins were compiledfrom maps furnished by PETROBRAS-Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. / Petrobras-Brazilian Petroleum Company, SEGEMAR- Servicio Geológico Minero Argentino / Geological and Mining Survey of Argentina and various other sources, improved and adjusted.For the offshore area, these contour lineswere derived from the digital total-sediment-thickness database for the world’s oceans and marginal seas, compiled by the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, USA) and gridded with a spatial resolution of 5 arc-minutes. The isopachs were simplified, consolidated and adjusted along the continental margins to produce this unified shape.
