Description: A shapefile morfoestrutural da Cordilheira Mesoatlântica Equatorial do Segmento 2 é derivado da interpretação dos dados de batimetria multifeixe, levantados nas Expedições Científicas realizadas no período compreendido entre 17 de maio e 29 de julho de 2012, a bordo do navio de pesquisa R/V Ocean Stawart. Foram delimitas as principais feições morfoestruturais presentes na dorsal, tais como: (a) segmentos de dorsal, unidades fundamentais de acresção magmática e de deformação tectônica, delimitados pelos deslocamentos no eixo de acresção da litosfera oceânica, que podem ser descontinuidades não transformantes ou por falhas transformantes oceânicas; (b) as falhas transformantes (FT) oceânicas, que representam uma descontinuidade tectônica de primeira ordem, separando os segmentos de dorsal com movimento transcorrente entre duas placas; (c) zona de fratura (ZF) oceânica, que é o limite da FT que se estende além da interseção da dorsal com a FT, na litosfera mais antiga, por vários milhares de quilômetros; (d) descontinuidade tectônica de segunda ordem, que são descontinuidade não transformante (DNT) em centros de propagação lenta. O produto faz parte do Projeto de Prospecção e Exploração de Sulfetos Polimetálicos da Cordilheira Mesoatlântica (PROCORDILHEIRA) foi executado pela Superintendência Regional de Fortaleza e pelo Escritório do Rio de Janeiro, através da Divisão de Geologia Marinha. A coordenação nacional do projeto coube ao Departamento de Geologia – DEGEO com apoio da Divisão de Sensoriamento Remoto e Geofísica - DISEGE.Escala 1:250.000,Sistema de Coordenadas Geográficas, Datum SIRGAS - 2000.
